In conjunction with The Green Hotel Golf & Leisure Resort, we are delighted to be hosting the inaugural Kinross PowerPlay Golf Open to be played on Friday 9th September 2011 over The Bruce Course at Kinross Golf.
PowerPlay Golf was launched as an exciting new golf concept in May 2011 at Celtic Manor with a host of professionals including Gary Player, Ian Poulter and John Daly competing over the 9 hole format in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
Played over 9 holes instead of the normal 18, PowerPlay Golf is an exciting, high-pressure form of the sport which gives golfers two flags to aim at on every green. You score extra points if you ‘PowerPlay’ to the Black Flag, which is in an extra-hard position – often close to hazards such as bunkers or ponds.

The Kinross PowerPlay Golf Open is open to everyone to enter. The entry fee (per 9 hole round) is £10 for adults and £5 for Juniors. Players can enter and playthe 9 holes as often as they want during the day - in order to improve on their previous best. First tee time is 7.30am and last tee time is 5pm.
Separate competitions will be run for Men (max h'cap 28), Ladies (max 36), Junior Boys (max 36) and Junior Girls (max 36). In addition to entering individually, there will also be prizes for the best teams (3 players). There will be a host of wonderful prizes for each of these categories and every entrant will receive a goody bag worth £15.
We are delighted that Western SAAB, SRixon and Tullibardine Distillery will be the official sponsors. Both par 3 holes will have wonderful Hole-in-One prizes - you will be able to win a SAAB convertible on one hole and a fabulous holiday for 4 in Portugal on the other.

During the month of October, we will be offering both visiting golfers and golfers staying in the Resort the option of having lunch in Rushes Bar and getting one main course FREE for every main course they and their party pay for.
For the avoidance of doubt, the less expensive of the two main courses will be the one not charged for! However this still represents wonderful value for golfers wishing to eat before or after their rounds of golf here at Kinross.

The senior of the two courses at Kinross, The Montgomery is fair for the weekend or occasional golfer while still providing some unique challenges for the more accomplished player.
There is always golfing banter about who is going to make the “Montgomery Challenge Hall of Fame”, but breaking 80 is a serious challenge. If your handicap is 10 or greater and you successfully score below 80, we'll extend the prize of a free round to include a friend.
The hardest hole? The par-4 18th at 443 yards!
We've added 19 strategically placed bunkers and a pond to make life a little more interesting for challengers. But perhaps the biggest aggravator is the very last hole. Many a golfer has stood on the 18th tee thinking about The Montgomery Challenge Hall of Fame only to have their hopes dashed with the brutish 443 yards to a difficult green on this par-4.
Par these!
The best par-3 on The Montgomery is the 4th, just 139 yards uphill to a green that slopes considerably from front to back. Any shot that finds the front right bunker is almost instantly a bogey and chipping around this green is never easy.
The favourite par-4 on the course in the 16th. Placement off the tee is vital and there is a long iron approach to a well-guarded green. Make the green in two and walking off with a par is usually a result.
The 11th is The Montgomery's best par-5 with its new pond that makes this 498 yard hole a great risk and reward test. It is especially so for those playing the yellow tees at 465 yards: given the right wind and ground conditions, it will be very tempting to fetch the green in two. But beware - the second shot must be perfect or it will likely find a watery grave in the pond.
The Montgomery loves the ladies
Construction of new ladies' tees reduced the yardage on the course by about 250 yards and the standard scratch score went from 75 to a more realistic 73.
