- Walking or Cycling around Loch Leven on the recently opened Loch Leven Heritage Trail. Loch Leven is a National Nature Reserve and is one of Europe's most important wetland sites, with great numbers and variety of breeding wildfowl and up to 20,000 pinkfoot geese in the spring and autumn
- Gliding over the Lomond Hills at the Scottish Gliding Centre on the east shore of Loch Leven
- Motorsports at the nearby Knockhill racing Circuit, Scotland's National Motorsport Centre - try your hand from go-karting up to rally cars and single seat racing cars
- Bird Watching at Vane Farm, within the Loch Leven National Nature Reserve, with its visitor centre and nature trail
Heritage Sites around Kinross which are well worth a visit:
- Loch Leven Castle, famous for Mary Queen of Scots having been imprisoned there for a year before her dramatic escape. A boat ferries you to and from the island in the middle of the loch
- Kinross House Gardens – built in the late 17th Century by Sir William Bruce, Kinross House is widely regarded as being one of the most beautiful in Scotland with stunning views from its formal gardens over Loch Leven towards the Castle. The gardens (but not the house) are open to the public and can be easily reached following a pleasant walk through the golf courses.
Further Afield:
Kinross is ideally located in Central Scotland, throwing up all sorts of exciting options for non-golfers wishing to venture further afield for the day.
- The nearby City of Perth is the ‘Gateway to the Highlands' with all the stunning scenery to be found there. Equally, the coastal villages of Fife stretching all the way to St Andrews are well worth a visit
- The area is rich in heritage with historic sites such as Edinburgh Castle , Stirling Castle, Glamis Castle and Scone Palace all within easy reach
- For the shopaholics, a day out in Edinburgh or Glasgow constitutes serious retail therapy!
